Today's Staff Pick is from Doug Anderson!
J.R. McNeill’s Something New Under the Sun opened my eyes to many things about the history of our natural environment. Among other things, he alerted me to the work of his father, historian William H. McNeill, and his 1975 work, Plagues and Peoples. I learned that bacteria and viruses are life forms which evolve, and that they can, and have, impacted human history—as they are doing now with Covid-19.
