Archives Display: Heading West with the LeCocqs: From Iowa to Washington

New in the Learning Commons: A large exhibit titled “Heading West with the LeCocqs: From Iowa to Washington.” This family of Dutch immigrants exemplifies westward migration and community building; they first settled in Pella, Iowa, then Orange City, Iowa, moved on to Harrison, South Dakota, and eventually resided in Lynden, Washington. They were leaders in each community, serving in local government and establishing businesses. The display was created by Liesbeth Ten Hoeve, a Northwestern student who interpreted and transcribed many of the Dutch-language items in the collection. She was assisted by DeWitt Library employees Sara Huyser and Heather Sas.

An online exhibit accompanies this display.
